Burrendong Dam update
State Water Corporation is continuing to release water from the Burrendong Dam spillway at a rate of 40,000ML/day to make space for possible further inflows.
State Water's Water Delivery Manager Centre Valleys Sri Sritharan said his team would continue to monitor and manage the level of the dam which is currently at 140%.
"Inflows to Burrendong peaked last night at a short-term rate of 385,000ML/day with the water from the catchment upstream. The catchment includes the areas of Bathurst, Mudgee, Hill End and Orange," Mr Sritharan said.
"The inflows have steadily declined since then so we are continuing to release at 40,000ML/day to keep space in the flood mitigation zone for further high inflows.
Burrendong safely withstood the 1990 flood which saw the storage reach 160%.
"As the rate of inflows has already peaked last night and we are releasing water, it is unlikely the dam will reach that level again over the next few days."
The Burrendong Dam wall and spillway remain off limits to the public as access to the dam crest is currently part of the construction zone for the dam safety upgrade.
