Burrendong increases outflows

Burrendong at high capacityThe situation at Burrendong Dam has escalated, as further heavy rain throughout the day has increased inflows into the dam storage.

Water will begin being released at a rate of 25,000ML per day at 4pm today (Wednesday, 1 December).

This decision is a result of both an analysis of existing data, close monitoring of the catchment area throughout the day and weather forecasts.

The travel time for releases from Burrendong Dam to Dubbo is approximately 18 hours.

Weather advice from the Bureau of Meteorology suggests that another weather system is due to move through the central west on either Sunday or Monday, with more strong rain expected towards the end of next week.

Over the next eight days, 100-150ml of rainfall is expected.
