Burrendong outflows further reduced
9 December 2010 – 1PM
Outflows from Burrendong Dam have been reduced to 30,000ML/day as the strategy to draw down the storage level takes effect.
The storage is currently sitting at 131%, with inflows easing to a rate of around 24,000ML/day.
State Water’s Acting Manager Water Delivery, Scott Barber said the objective to reduce the storage to around 130% to prepare for further possible high inflows had worked.
“Our team has managed to reduce the storage level to around 130% in anticipation of further heavy rains in the catchment upstream,” Mr Barber said.
“We have reduced the release rate to create capacity in the river channel to accommodate any inflows from tributary sources resulting from forecast rain tonight and Friday.
“We will continue to monitor the situations upstream and downstream of the dam as the forecast weather system moves through.”
