Burrendong storage levels dropping
7 December 2010 – 11AM
Burrendong Dam is currently sitting at 142.5% of capacity, which is about a 5% decrease from yesterday.
The dam is expected to experience further decreases in the storage over the next few days.
State Water’s Acting Water Delivery Manager, Scott Barber said that decreasing the storage level will help prepare the dam for the rain expected later in the week.
“We are preparing the dam for the rainfall that is forecast for this week. We have also kept the outflows constant over the past few days at 120,000ML per day,” said Mr Barber.
The inflows into the dam are currently at 55,000ML per day, down from yesterday’s (Monday) rate of 80,000ML per day.
Mr Barber also added that staff at the dam are working on a shift roster to ensure the dam is being monitored closely.
“The staff on site are working in shifts around the clock as they are undertaking regular readings and collecting data to monitor the dam”.
