Minister names new State Water CEO
22 June, 2011
Minister for Primary Industries, Katrina Hodgkinson, today announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for State Water Corporation.
“I can confirm that Brett Tucker has accepted the role of CEO and I look forward to working with him to build upon State Water’s achievements for irrigators and communities across regional NSW,’’ Katrina Hodgkinson said.
“Mr Tucker has served in Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd’s most senior position since 2005 and is a well-respected and accomplished figure within the irrigation industry, particularly in the Murrumbidgee Valley.
“He was also a pivotal member of the NSW Murrumbidgee Critical Water Advisory Group which played an important role in securing water resources for the Riverina during 10 years of drought.’’
Mr Tucker replaces George Warne who left State Water in April after four years as CEO of the state-owned corporation, which manages more than 20 dams in regional NSW.
“Mr Warne has provided a valuable contribution to the NSW water industry and I wish him all the best in his future ventures,’’ Ms Hodgkinson said.
Mr Tucker’s extensive industry involvement and his experience at the helm of a major commercial entity were impressive factors that led to his appointment, Ms Hodgkinson said.
“Mr Tucker’s considerable business experience sits well with State Water’s strategic intent to pursue non-regulated commercial opportunities and want to diversify into a more flexible business model.
“I would also like to acknowledge the valuable contribution of acting-CEO, Michael Jeffrey, who performed so capably in the role for the past two months,’’ Ms Hodgkinson said.
