Releases set to begin from Glenbawn Dam

30 November 2011

Glenbawn DamReleases are set to begin today from Glenbawn Dam, as the storage has exceeded 100% of capacity.

Outflows will commence at a rate of 600ML per day, which is a smaller volume than regular summer flows.

Water Delivery Coordinator, Coast valleys Garry Hunt said that the releases are unlikely to cause any issues downstream.

“The flows from the tributaries just downstream of the dam last weekend were around 20,000ML per day, so our planned releases are significantly lower than this,” said Mr Hunt.

“It is likely that if the predicted rain does not occur, than our releases will taper off over the coming week.”

Glennies Creek Dam is currently at 97.3% of capacity, with releases creating a small airspace in the storage in anticipation of predicted rain.

Releases from Glennies Creek Dam are now at 100ML per day, as inflows have receded to a rate of 250ML per day.
