Water service disruption at Duckmaloi plant
7 March 2011
Two unexplained power outages at the Duckmaloi water treatment plant have disrupted water supply to surrounding communities.
As a result of power failures both Saturday and Sunday nights it is likely that customers in the Lithgow villages, such as Portland, Marrangaroo and Wallerawang experienced periodic shortages of water, or decreased water quality.
It is anticipated that full service will be restored by midday today (Monday, 7 March).
Spokesman Tony Webber said that State Water is investigating the incidents and is in contact with Lithgow City Council in regards to water quality.
“We are in contact with Lithgow City Council who are closely monitoring water quality for the region,” Mr Webber said.
“We are investigating possible causes of these power outages, with the view to arriving at a solution as soon as possible.”
For information on water quality, please contact Lithgow City Council ph: (02) 6354 9999.
