Hume Dam

Upgrade works at Hume Located 16km east of Albury-Wodonga on the River Murray.

Installation of an improved filter and drainage system on the junction between the concrete spillway and southern embankment.
Construction of a concrete buttress on the southern training wall
Modifications to the dam crest to improve the abilility of the dam to manage extreme floods.

Stage 1 - Install filter and drainage system at the junction between the concrete spillway section and southern embankment (completed August 2011)
Stage 2 - Construct mass concrete buttress at the southern training wall
Stage 3 - Additional flood security works

Filter and drainage works at the spillway southern junction, constructed by Advanced Foundation Solutions (Aust) Pty Ltd was completed in August 2011
The contractor for the stage one project won a NSW construction industry award for work on the project in August 2011
The contract for construction of stage two has been awarded to McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd. Construction is scheduled to commence in November 2011
Flood Security Investigations - The hydrology investigations were completed in December 2010, with the detailed investigations and upgrade option refinement for stage three continuing. Concept and detailed design phases are to commence in 2012
