Upgrade works at HumeLocated 16km east of Albury-Wodonga on the River Murray.

Description

  • Installation of an improved filter and drainage system on the junction between the concrete spillway and southern embankment.
  • Construction of a concrete buttress on the southern training wall
  • Modifications to the dam crest to improve the abilility of the dam to manage extreme floods.  

Stages

  • Stage 1 - Install filter and drainage system at the junction between the concrete spillway section and southern embankment (completed August 2011)
  • Stage 2 - Construct mass concrete buttress at the southern training wall
  • Stage 3 - Additional flood security works

Updates

  • Filter and drainage works at the spillway southern junction, constructed by Advanced Foundation Solutions (Aust) Pty Ltd was completed in August 2011 
  • The contractor for the stage one project won a NSW construction industry award for work on the project in August 2011
  • The contract for construction of stage two has been awarded to McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd.  Construction is scheduled to commence in November 2011
  • Flood Security Investigations - The hydrology investigations were completed in December 2010, with the detailed investigations and upgrade option refinement for stage three continuing. Concept and detailed design phases are to commence in 2012
