Start date: April 2010 (construction)
Expected completion: August 2012
Description: Upgrade Lock 15 weir navigable pass and fishway to comply with the latest flood safety and operational requirements.
The current works involve replacing a section of the navigable pass  with concrete and large steel bridge decks, making it safer, stronger and easier to operate.
 

Benefits

  • Protect the structure from erosion.
  • Improve structural integrity of the weir.
  • Upgraded fishway will enable small aquatic species to pass through the weir.

Milestones

  • June 2005 - Project inception and preparation of project plan.
  • November 2008 - Board approval for tender for detailed design.
  • October 2009 - Detail design to be completed
  • 2010 - Construction commenced

Updates

  • May 2009 - Contract for detailed design awarded to URS.
  • High flows have delayed works. The project has since resumed in January 2012 and is scheduled to be completed by August 2012.
