Koondrook-Perricoota Flood Enhancement Work

Description: Install engineering structures and channels to divert and control flows from the Murray River through the forest, in order to mimic natural flooding events and improve and protect forest health.

Milestones
- 2004/05 - Project inception and preparation of project plan.
- 2005/06 - Feasibility and options review, concept design review, survey for upstream structures, hydraulic modelling of the forest and project environmental review.
- 2006/07 - Purchase of Toorangabby property, concept design for Swan Lagoon regulator, bridge and fishway and inundation model.
- 2007/08 - Development of investment proposal, survey for levee and regulator sites, geotech investigation for upstream regulators, hydraulic modelling for various flow scenarios and salinity/soils report for forest area.
- 2008/09 - Finalise concept design report and submit investment proposal . Preliminary downstream system capacity assessment, commencement of environmental assessment and Part 3A application. Commencement of final design and documentation.
- 2009/10 - Completion of survey, geotechnical investigation, final design and documentation, commence early tenderer involvement and progress final environmental approvals.
Updates
- October 2008 - Investment proposal approved.
- April 2009 - Concept design was approved by MDBC Ministerial Council.
- September 2009 - Opening of permanent project contact point for the local community at 12B Mellool Street, Barham, including display areas, office and meeting room.
