Launched in New South Wales on 14 July, the SFE State Water Indexes are an exciting new product
that will provide a snapshot of water availability across the State. It is envisaged the
information provided by the indexes will have wide-ranging applications across all
rural and regional sectors.
State Water, in partnership with the Sydney Futures Exchange (SFE),
conducted consultation with a range of stakeholders in July/August
2005 and the feedback provided during this period has been invaluable
in shaping the future of the project.
Thank you to everyone who provided information during this period.
Based on feedback from key rural and regional stakeholders, State Water will continue developing
the water indexes to ensure effective communications of water availability to its
customers across New South Wales. At the same time,
the Sydney Futures Exchange will continue developing the
proposed concept of a water futures market to provide a
missing piece of economic infrastructure.
