Allocation Assignment Forms

Under the Water Management Act 2000 (WMA2000), transferring water between Access Licences is referred to as an Allocation Assignment (or a 71T Dealing) formerly known as a temporary transfer under the water Act 1912. The Access Licence holder and/or a water broker may initiate Allocation Assignments. The rules for assigning water between Access Licences are defined by the relevant Water Sharing Plans and your local State Water Customer Service Officer can assist you with processing an Allocation Assignment.

Conditions of Allocation Assignment:
  1. Refer to your Water Sharing Plan to determine the rules for your water source.
  2. The seller’s Access Licence must be current (ie Suspended, cancelled, etc licences are not permitted to assign water). The buyer’s Access Licence can be current or suspended only.
  3. There must be sufficient water available in your Access Licence water account to transfer to the buyer.
  4. A conforming application must be lodged with your State Water Customer Service Officer with all details and fees (see below for forms).
  5. The processing time for an Allocation Assignment depends on the availability of your account balance and the Water Sharing Plan rules. The turn around time is usually five working days.
